Purple Skunk Crumble

This tasty Purple Skunk Crumble is made in-house at MPC!  Using high-quality Purple Skunk Flower as starting material!

A heavily sativa-dominant hybrid, Purple Skunk is a cross of the ever-popular Skunk #1 and an older, more obscure purps strain.  This strain tastes of berry, earth, and Skunk, while it smells much the same. Reported side effects include watery eyes, cottonmouth, dizziness, headaches, and paranoia. Though popular among those who have tried it, Purple Skunk isn’t widespread; it’s easiest to find in Washington State, Oregon, Montana, Arizona, and California.

Effects & Benefits of Purple Skunk Crumble

The sativa/indica ratio is roughly 85:15, so expect creative cerebral effects with a strong dose of euphoria, a tingling sensation, and powerful hunger. That makes this a good strain for treating lack of appetite, though it’s also effective with anxiety, depression, migraine headaches, chronic pain, insomnia, and daily stresses. Purple Skunk has relatively high THC content, topping at least 18% in tests, and that makes for potent psychoactive effects that may be too strong for newcomers and part-time tokers. CBD levels are likely quite low, given the abundance of THC, but since they’re not widely reported, it’s hard to know. For that reason alone, Purple Skunk shouldn’t be used as a CBD strain for patients whose conditions require that chemical.

What is Live Resin?

Live resin is a form of marijuana concentrate that gets its name because it lets smokers experience the pure essence of cannabis — Notably, its flower buds. The “live” part of “live resin” comes from the fact that this marijuana concentrate is processed. So the “resin” part is simply the description of the concentrate’s trichomes, all of which contain flavonoids, cannabinoids and terpenes.

Meanwhile, live resin comes in different forms, two of which are live resin sauce and cured live resin. Live resin sauce is also known as “terp sauce” or simply “sauce.” It’s a form of live resin marijuana concentrate that was recently made but is already rising in popularity because of its intense flavours and the aroma that it gives out. Live resin sauce has a high amount of terpene in it, which is its scent and flavour. It is said that the amount of terpene found inside a mason jar of live resin sauce is more substantial than the regular amount of live resin. Liquidized live resin is also called “sauce” and is similar to amber or dark yellow.

Plus, there are cured live resin — Curing is known as the technique that marijuana smokers use to preserve the cannabis buds inside the herb to get it prepared for extracting the good stuff inside. The difference here is that resin is known as marijuana concentrate. This means you can’t have live resin if you don’t let it go through the proper curing process. Sometimes “cured” live resin could refer to just about anything, so any form of concentrated cannabis that goes through an effective curing process is known as “cured live resin.”

Live resin is pretty new for marijuana strains or derivatives from widely used extraction techniques. The reason why it’s so popular among both marijuana enthusiasts and professional growers today is the process of making live resin is so unique, which sets it apart from other preservation and extraction techniques. That’s because instead of the standard way of draining the moisture from the cannabis plant, live resin stores it instead.

Another part of curing live resin is harvesting fresh cannabis plants and freezing them to below zero degrees. The marijuana herb is frozen to make the entire extraction process for live resin easier.

After they’re frozen, the plants are drained of their chlorophyll and moisture. The trichomes that come with the plant, an essential ingredient in live resin, will then be exposed to strong amounts of light, heat, physical pressure and oxygen. Since the cannabis plants used for making live resin will freeze the plant, the cannabinoids inside the plant and the trichomes are well-preserved. Another advantage of freezing cannabis leaves for the live resin is that it retains its aroma and original flavour, even after it ends up becoming live resin or live resin sauce.

Live resin comes in a deep yellow or amber colour. It also has a sticky consistency, somewhat resembling sauce or candle wax in texture — Not too hard, or not too watery. The runniness of the finished product will all depend on whoever makes the live resin.
